Private Member's Bill passes Second Reading

I am pleased that the Government has accepted the wording of my Bill and that it was passed unanimously and has passed through Second Reading.

There will no doubt be long and complicated discussions at Committee Stage but for the moment we can be pleased that my wide ranging Bill, which seeks to correct a number of oddities around how we register love, marriage and death in this country, which have caused distress and upset, is one step closer to becoming law.

You can follow the progress of my Bill here.
