Reaction to unions calling off Southern strike action

Delighted following the cross-party meetings I arranged with ASLEF and RMT in UK Parliament that both unions have agreed to call off their strike action.

Speaking to both unions was insightful and revealed that the differences between them and GTR were not so great as to be insurmountable.

I now hope that the two unions, GTR and the DfT can reach an agreement that sees the legitimate concerns of the unions around staffing numbers and relatively small but nevertheless important safety concerns answered at the same time as accepting that new technology and modernisation are important to coping with the massive increases in demand on our railways.
