Update on the Proposed Closure of Railway Ticket Offices - August 14th 2023

As I said recently in Parliament, I think the plans from the rail operating companies to close most of the ticket offices at stations in England are nuts.

The ticket office staff don't just sell tickets. In the case of the staff member I spoke to at Worthing station recently, as well as selling tickets he monitors a few dozen CCTV cameras at the station, he helps people who need extra on the platform getting on and off trains and more as well.

The consultation on the closures was originally only going to last three weeks which was ridiculously short. I am very pleased it has been extended to 1st September. Please, if you haven't already done so, join the 170,000 people who have replied so far and have your say in response to the consultation online - https://www.transportfocus.org.uk/train-station-ticket-office-consultat…
