Update from Govia Thameslink Railway - Strike Action - Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th October

As you may know, the RMT agreed to have last minute talks, which I am sure we all hoped would have been productive and avoided the planned strike action this week. Unfortunately this has not happened and the strike action will be going ahead.

Plans have been made to ensure there will be extra staff at stations to help passengers, with 61% of the full timetable expected to run and 80 more trains than on previous strike days.

The strike action will be taking place between Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th October - the following arrangements have been made:

  • Two peak trains between Uckfield and London Bridge in the morning, with two returning in the late afternoon, supplemented by buses connecting Uckfield, Buxted, Crowborough and Eridge with Tunbridge Wells and Haywards Heath (for rail connections to/from London), where previously there were none
  • A reduced train service between Dorking and Horsham where previously there was none
  • Later services to Redhill
  • Later services on the London Bridge to East Grinstead route
  • Later services on the Brighton to Eastbourne route
  • Buses between Chichester and Havant
  • Buses between Hastings and Eastbourne
  • Buses between Redhill and Tonbridge – during peak hours only
  • Buses all day between Ashford International and Hastings

Nearly all 156 stations will have either a train or bus service of some description on the planned strike days, and in order to help passengers know which services will be affected, full details of services will be made available at www.southernrailway.com/rmtstrike
