Schools Funding in West Sussex

Schools in West Sussex are facing some really difficult financial decisions, including cutting courses, not replacing teachers and not purchasing pretty basic equipment. However it is the case that more money is being spent on schools than ever before. There are plans to create 600,000 new school places and refurbish 500 existing schools. So please don't listen to the scare stories being peddled by some that there have been cuts to education.

Increasing costs are a real problem and Conservative West Sussex MPs have recognised the pressures on our local schools and have been calling for fair funding for some time.

I welcomed the announcement in the Conservatives manifesto of a further £4bn in new funding for schools, including a commitment to ensuring no school loses out under the new funding formula, which will mean extra resources for West Sussex, but it needs to go further.

As ever you can read more of my thoughts on this issue on my website: https://www.timloughton.com/campaigns/schools-funding
