I've got 6 pieces of excellent news on animal welfare that have been announced in the last few weeks:
1) Introducing mandatory CCTV in slaughterhouses
2) Banning the export of live animals once we have left the EU
3) Increasing the sentencing for animal cruelty from a derisory 6mths to 5yrs
4) Banning the sale of ivory to cut out the terrible practice of ivory poaching
5) Banning microbeads from being used in products as they do such harm to our oceans and marine wildlife
6) Looking to introduce bottle deposit schemes
We are banning the sale of ivory & increasing maximum sentencing for animal cruelty.Conservatives are leading the way on animal welfare and the RSPCA have responded saying:
