  • Speeches in Parliament

At Culture, Media and Sport questions, I asked the minister about illegal content on social media. In a woeful performance in front of the Home Affairs Select Committee (HASC) representatives from Facebook, Google and Twitter admitted that they do nothing virtually proactively to reduce hate speech, extremism and child abuse being hosted on their sites. I asked whether it was time to pursue German proposals which would see social media companies fined for not taking down this king of content.

You can read the full transcript of the HASC meeting here: http://data.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/committeeevidence.svc/evidencedocument/home-affairs-committee/hate-crime-and-its-violent-consequences/oral/48836.html
