GTR Performance Update - New Low?

GTR use the industry standard Public Performance Measure (PPM), which for London & South East operators means arrivals at destinations within five minutes of published time (i.e. arrival on time or up to four minutes 59 seconds late). This morning the PPM fell below 80%, meaning 20% of all GTR services were delayed by more than 5 minutes, in fact more were cancelled or delayed by at least 30 mins, than those delayed between 5 - 30mins.

GTR's performance - even taking into account the problems of upgrading the track and RMT's indurial action - has been dire and I will be continuing to hold them to account for the abysmal service. I have written to Charles Horton, GTR CEO, and the Train Minister, Claire Perry, and hope to instigate a meeting between the Government, GTR and Network Rail representatives, and others in order to sort this issue out.

The day has got progressively worse. Between 13:00 and 15:00 only 43% of trains were on time. Whilst so far today only 18 of 47 trains on the Brighton Mainline ran on time - this not acceptable, particularly with rush hour starting soon.

The last service update showed that across the day up until 20:00 only 53% of all GTR services were on time, whilst between 18:00 and 20:00 only 42% of journeys arrived on time. On the Brighton Mainline only 29 of 96 trains arrived on time, whilst 21 were either delayed by 30 mins or more, or cancelled.
